The Wager

A night shot in the rain… Better place your bets!

I've been having a rough time lately, so I'm not sure when I'll be posting again.  I am however in the preparatory stages of a painting I'm anxious to share.  It's hard fighting back the urge to post my progress.  Maybe I'll do something closer to the painting's completion.

Left handed, in the rain, in the dark, in a land slide!

Awesome sketch!

Thanks Alex!

Hey, wait a minute, that chap isn't left-handed; he's using his right hand to hold the arrow.
O, well...
...Right handed, in the rain, in the dark, in a land slide, with lightning, a fever, a sprained shoulder, astigmatism in one eye, and a bent arrow, and his hood over one eye, with the other fellow hanging onto his arm... Better place your bets!
(What's he trying to hit?)
Anyways, great picture!

Ha! thanks for the comment… and Josiah; I've been to your website. You have real chain-mail hoods and authentic swords. You know what you are talking about!

Somehow I got it backwards in my rough sketches. I'm left handed myself so I'm always thinking how to reverse the pose I would take. What's funny is I did the same thing in college with a block carving I made of Rembrandt holding an electric guitar. Maybe the archer is left handed… and shooting right will be a real trick??

Not sure what he's trying to hit. I can't see through the monsoon!

I'm changing the post but am noting that Josiah made the correction, and I am merely covering my mistake.

So let it be written; so let it be done…

'...I admit it, you are better than me.'
'Then why are you smiling?'
'Because I know something you don't; I am not left-handed...'

I have betimes drawn swords-men, and afterwards noticed that I had inadvertently drawn them to be left-handed.
Aha! Just call it, 'Artistic License!'

Saw your mouse on cartoon brew- I'm blown away by the level of detail in your work! Keep it up!

Josiah - Ha! and it is even more difficult when your mistake works well with a particular composition! Then you're in a fix.

Thanks Karl, for stopping by and for the comment! I appreciate that!
