Holocaust Memorial

back

This image was created for the Holocaust Memorial started by Jillian Curtis. She has asked for stars representing the yellow stars that the Jews had to wear under the Nazi oppression of World War II. They also symbolize the lights that went out due to the Holocaust.

We must never forget these precious lives that were lost. Hopefully these stars will serve as a reminder of the evil that hatred can cause, and that we should never let it flourish in our hearts.

Thank you Jillian for inviting me to participate. This is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

You can obtain more information about the memorial at Jillian's page blog-me-til-midnight.blogspot.com or at Winona Daily News.com, who recently ran a story about the project.

"Update on the Project" KAALtv.com ran a news report on the memorial!

Nice piece.
I like how you kept the tight finished detail on the focus and had looser look in the rest of the piece.

Really amazing work, Anthony. Can I ask how you did it, i mean was there a specific sized star? Your new profile picture is perfect too.

Hey Eric, Thanks. there were no specifics on the size of star... mine was about five and a half inches wide

I used illustration board and covered the back in brown wrapping paper, folding the edges around to the front...

and thanks for the profile picture comment... mine is just not as cool as Quentin though :)
